A Singhalese bronze figure of Buddha Shakyamuni. Late Kandya period (1480-1815)

Seated in meditation on a low base, both hands held in dhyanamudra in his lap, the monk's robe finely engraved with wavy lines suggesting ultra-fine pleating. On the forehead a spiral-shaped urna and a flame ornament on the head.
