A Singhalese piha kaetta. 17th/18th century

With a curved steel blade with a wide back, partly encased in silver chased with blossoms and scrolls, ornate brass ferrule with silver inlay, the ivory hilt carved as a stylised bird head with fine details, the pommel and rivet caps of chiseled silver. The scabbard of light wood with a large silver foil mouthpiece with silver filigree. Silver foil a bit damaged.
