An exceptional pair of Augsburg silver gilt candelabra

Round bases supporting smooth tapering shafts terminating in capitals with finely chased acanthus foliage and central screw-mounted six-flame branch attachments crowned by busts of Minerva. H 58.5 cm, weight 4,783 g.
Marks of Johann Alois Seethaler and Friedrich Ernst Dassdorf, 1824/25.

Johann Alois Seethaler received numerous court commissions in the first few years of the 19th century, including for the Dukes of Mecklenburg, the silver chamber of King Max I Joseph of Bavaria and the Hermitage in St. Petersburg.
