A Meissen porcelain ollientopf with "woodcut" style flowers

Small meat stew tureen on tripod rocaille supports with scroll handles and slightly domed lid with cabbage shaped finial. Blue crossed swords mark. Minimal wear, two restored chips to the rim of the tureen, finial reattached. H 14.3, D 16.9 cm.
Around 1745.

Abraham den Blaauwen explains the origin of the world "olientopf" as being derived from the French "pot à oille", but originally from the Spanish "olla". The pot is used to serve stock with vegetables and meat.
