A Meissen porcelain figure of Pantalone

From the series of commedia dell'arte figures made for Duke Johann Adolph II of Saxony-Weisenfels. A figure of the bearded old man leaning forward on an oval base. He wears a simple coat and a black cap, yellow shoes and a gold and purple jacket. Blue crossed swords mark to the back of the base. A retouch to the cloak, the tip of the beard restored, tip of the dagger broken off. H 13.8 cm.
Modelled by Johann Joachim Kaendler in March 1744, and Peter Reinicke, produced in the period.
