A large importamt table clock with Atlas and a celestial globe by Alexis Falize

14-day running movement with rack striking mechanism, English lever escapement, bimetallic compensation balance, hour strike on bell. Fully sculpted, chiselled silver figure of the kneeling Atlas, carrying the large celestial globe on his shoulders, mounted on a high red marble base. Movable chapter ring, "cercle tournant", with 24-hour division, a large star on the front indicating the current time. The winding holes are concealed behind sliding bolts at the back under the chapter ring. Marks: On the right ankle of the atlas tête de sanglier and cygne, on the edge of the tropic cygne, on the upper part of the globe, near the giraffe's head, tête de sanglier and the mark of Falize (difficult to recognise), on the lower part of the globe, under the small cross, near the sagitarius, tête de sanglier and cygne, on the right wrist of the atlas cygne, on the hair of the atlas the mark of Falize. H 41.7 cm.
