This finely painted garland of carnations, roses, violets, forget-me-nots, lilies of the valley and other flowers and insects is based on corresponding works by the older and younger Jan Breughel. The central octagonal image of the Madonna and Child with the Infant John the Baptist is by an unknown artist.
Fred Meijer attributed to work to Jan Brueghel the Younger's workshop after examining a photograph of the work (in written communication dated September 19th 2023).
