A large gilded, lacquered and painted figure of Sho Kannon Bosatsu. Edo period

Standing in slight tribhanga with right hand pendant and held in mudra and the left hand holding a vase, the flowing garments and long shawl painted black with patterns in kindei, the eyes and the urna of glass, standing on a large lotus flower above a cushion and flower petals rising from an architectural base. Behind the figure a mandorla carved in openwork with rising flames. Inscription inside the base dated Manji ni nen (1659) nigatsu kichinichi, Kyo Gojō (followed by the address), Dai busshi ( followed by a long name) saku.
