Hirasawa Kurō 平澤九朗 (1772-1840) was one of the most famous samurai potters in Nagoya. After retiring from official life, he built his own kiln in Nagoya. He created tea ceramics in the style of the "Momoyama revival". This term is used to describe the faithfully copied or reinterpreted early Mino ceramics (Shino, Ki-Seto and Oribe). Old pieces in the collections of the Owari Tokugawa family and rich merchants served as models for the 19th-century potters.

Kato Shunji 加藤春二 (1864-1945) was a potter from Seto who worked for the Tokugawa family in the style of Oribe, Ki-Seto and Setoguro.
