A Singhalese copper alloy figure of Buddha Shakyamuni. Late Kandya period (1480-1815)

Seated in meditation on a very flat double lotus base, the hands held in dhyana mudra in his lap, the uttarasangha covered with fine undulating lines representing garment folds, the narrow sanghati placed over the left shoulder, the unalom above the urna inlaid in silver, the eye pupils painted in black lacquer.
