A Burmese silver bowl. Early 20th century

Of deep form with an almost vertical wall, chased and engraved with various figures including a pair of lovers, a horse rider, dancers and a man with a demon mask on ring punched ground with foliage, within niches formed by lobed arches and flower pots, between an acanthus leaf border around the base and a thin ornamental band around the rim. Inscription to the base reading: ko rhve ni, ma rhve thih phalah ko rhve ni (vessel belonging to Ko Shwe Ni and Ma Shwe Htee) (probably husband and wife). Weight 1185 g.
