A German 18k gold enamel and diamond horse brooch.

Designed as a horse's head with long flowing mane, picked out in trompe l'oeil lapislazuli enamel with gold powder inclusions, the eyes set with two small brilliant-cut diamonds, the textured mane set with strips of 38 brilliant- and 8/8-cut diamonds (totalling ca. 63 ct, H/I, vs-si). Hallmarks: Fineness 750, maker's mark "Kern", numbered 1016. The enamel of the ears and the edge of the mount with minor wear, one stone missing. 7.4 x 4.3 cm. Weight 54.73 g. Original light grey suede case.
