In his birthplace, the Swiss town of Steckborn on Untersee, the work of the painter Emanuel Labhardt is curated and a catalogue of his works compiled. The editor is the local museum im Turmhof. The present gouache is not listed here, but two similar sheets with the Walhalla motif are, which also document a visit by the Swiss artist to the memorial built by King Ludwig I in Donaustauf.
Emanuel Labhardt was a pupil of Johann Heinrich Bleuler, which can also be seen in his finely coloured and topographically accurate pictures.
