A Nuremberg Renaissance silver gilt columbine cup

Lobed base supporting a baluster-form shaft with three scroll appliques and a slender, waisted cup with repoussé scrollwork surrounding two rows of bosses. The cover with corrresponding decor and a large scroll finial. H 33 cm, weight 419 g.
Marks of Peter Wibers, around 1603 - 1609.

Today, many goblets from Wiber's oeuvre have survived and are housed in international collections, for example the Green Vault in Dresden, the Museum of Decorative Arts in Cologne, the Germanic National Museum in Nuremberg and the National Museum in Copenhagen.
