A bokutō. Various woods. First half 19th century

Of bijutsugatana-type, carved as a tantō. The handle carved with a tiger on one side and a galloping horse on the other, the saya carved with a dragon. The light wood kozuka (probably a later addition) en suite. The kurigata carved with waves with spray rendered in tiny metal inlays. The dark wood kojiri decorated en suite, the kashira with bell flowers. Signed: (made on behalf of) Toryusai Kosan and kao. Cloth bag.
