An Eastern Tibetan thangka of Hevajra. Palpung Monastery style. 19th century
In the center, Hevajra and his consort Nairatma united in yab-yum on a lotus, framed by a flaming mandorla. Hevajra and Nairatma wear ornate bone adornments and necklaces of skulls. The couple is surrounded by eight naked dakinis, each representing one of the eight cardinal directions. They can be identified by corresponding small gold inscriptions. Brocade mounting. Rest.
