An Orissa copper alloy figure of Durgamahishasuramardini. North Eastern India. 14/16th century

Standing on a lotus pedestal with a beaded rim, her left foot is placed on her mount, the lion; with her right foot she holds down the buffalo demon and stabs its humanoid form with a trident, whilst the demon also attacked by the lion; in her two secondary hands chakra and shankha. The severed buffalo head on the lotus pedestal in front of her.
