South German 16th century

A 16th century South German figure of Christ holding grapes

Wood, carved in the round. With, presumably original, older polychromy, that of the plinth and base overpainted. Depicting the nude Christ Child standing in contrapposto, holding a bunch of grapes in His left hand and His right hand held aloft in blessing. The underside of the plinth incised "158(.)" und "(.)en.27".
The extended left foot and parts of the plinth below it replaced. Loosely mounted on the, presumably original, plinth. Wear to the plinth. Height 26 cm (with plinth).
