A Nuremberg Renaissance silver gilt goblet

Round, domed and waisted foot with repoussé scrollwork and fruit garlands. Above a cast vase with three straps rises the cylindrical, upwardly flaring cup with a smooth, slightly splayed lip rim. The wall is decorated with three finely chased mascarons set among rich strapwork and fruit garlands. The slightly domed lid features corresponding decor; the finial designed as a landsknecht, holding a shield in his left hand and a lance in his right. H 31 cm, weight 369 g.
Marks of Heinrich Jonas, 1580 - 1591.
