Frans de Momper was born into a large family of artists. His father was Jan de Momper, and his uncle was the more prominent Joos de Momper. It was from the latter that Frans received the most important inspiration for his artistic work. His drawings are still largely unknown, and some of them are probably attributed to his uncle.
