A pair of jeans with two round holes approx. 100 x 48 cm, framed in plexiglas case 121 x 76 x 15,5 cm. On an attached label signed and titled la Jambe d'Orwell Pantalon pour le 21e siècle Joseph Beuys. This work is from an edition of 35 with unique character. Beuys used for this edition some jeans, otherwise trousers made of cloth resp. corduroy.

The idea for the edition arose along with the performance "Good Morning, Mr. Orwell" with Joseph Beuys, Paik et al. at the Centre Pompidou in the New Year's Eve 1983/1984. Beuys made in each trousers, worn by the artist himself, his daughter Jessica and other peoples, two round holes in the knee and in the hollow of the knee. Beuys, being asked about it, said: This is the Orwell leg, the trousers of the 21. century. everybody in the world should make this trousers to themselves, to struggle against world-wide materialism and repression especially on the young ...look!
