Gelatin silver print on Agfa-Brovira paper, printed before 1953. 29.5 x 23 cm. Photographer's blindstamp lower right. Bordered in black ink. Mounted to original card, titled in an unknown hand in pencil on the mount lower left. Typewritten title 'August Sander: Köln wie es war' on a label affixed to the reverse of the mount. - In the lower image and along the left edge professionally retouched..

This and the following print (lot 23) were part of a portfolio which was a gift by August Sander to the mayor of Cologne Robert Görlinger in 1953 on occasion of his 65th anniversary.
