Mixed technique (gouache, ink brush, charcoal) on chamois-coloured laid paper 52.5 x 69 cm, framed under glass. Signed and dated Heckel 28 in pencil lower right and titled Bauernhaus lower left. On verso inscribed "1928 - Bauernhaus - Bild: > Landschaft mit Bauernhaus < Phot. 363" in pencil. - With 4 short backed marginal tears, with isolated weak specks of foxing.

This watercolour was painted during Heckel's stay in Osterholz on the Flensburg firth. It is related to the painting "Landschaft mit Bauernhaus" (Landscape with Farmhouse) and to the watercolour "Bauernhaus" (Farmhouse), both also painted in 1928. The latter is now located in the Brücke-Museum in Berlin (exhib. cat. Berlin/Bietigheim-Bissingen/Flensburg 2006, Erich Heckel an der Ostsee, cat. nr. 79 with full-page colour ill. p. 136).
