Lempertz will be organising a charity sale of artworks as part of the yearly Art Dinner of the Bürgerstiftung Berlin on 29th September. The profits from this sale of around 60 works will go towards funding language courses for children from refugee families.
The charity auction, which Lempertz has organised as part of the Bürgerstiftung’s annual Art Dinner on 29th September 2015, already promises to be a resounding success. The imposing departure hall of Tempelhof airport will provide a stunning backdrop for the sale of fine artworks. The auction catalogue encompasses over 60 lots, including both works by renowned artists such as Joseph Beuys, Cornelia Schleime, Uwe Kowski, Thomas Zipp, Karin Kneffel, Thomas Struth and Slavs and Tatars as well as once-in-a-lifetime experiences such as the chance to sit in live at a dress rehearsal of the Berlin Philharmonic orchestra with Anne-Sophie Mutter and Simon Rattle or a day with TV chef Kolja Kleeberg in the kitchen of his exquisite restaurant VAU.
The artworks were voluntarily collated by a group of Berlin art enthusiasts, including the chairwoman of the Bürgerstiftung Berlin Heike Maria von Joest, the businessman and collector Erich Marx, the lawyer Ursula Raue, the collector Manuela Alexejew-Brandl, the art patron Marianne Esser, businesswoman Angelika Oelmann and manager of the Lempertz Berlin branch Kilian von Seldeneck.
The Bürgerstiftung Berlin (Berlin civic foundation) have been successfully campaigning for improvements to the city’s living conditions for over fifteen years. The profits from this evening sale will help to provide language courses for refugee children. “As a citizen of Berlin, it is a great honour for me to support the Bürgerstiftung’s work with this auction”, says Kilian von Seldeneck.
All the works on offer can be viewed on weekdays from 10th to 25th September from 10:00 – 15:00 in the Lempertz Berlin branch (Poststraße 22, Berlin-Mitte). Reservations for the Art Dinner 2015 can be made under +49 30 83228113 or per email under email@example.com.
