The upcoming jewellery and watches auction at Lempertz in Cologne offers a dazzling array of colourful jewels and high-quality brand-name watches
It takes the skill and creativity of master jewellers to transform unique stones into the kind of jewellery on offer at Lempertz's Jewellery & Watches auction on 20th November.
Three spectacular jewellery highlights for the autumn season: A ring with an exceptional 11.51 ct Kashmir sapphire, a ring with a 16 ct diamond and a pendant with a 22 ct Colombian emerald, have been selected for Henrik Hanstein's anniversary auction ‘50 Lots My Choice’ and will not be offered until 4th December.
However, the jewellery and watches auction on 20th November already offers a wide range of jewellery with high-carat certified gemstones. For example, an eternity ring from an industrialist's estate, set with a very fine royal blue sapphire of 10.51 ct (NTE), which the gemmological institute SSEF has confirmed as originating from Madagascar. The ring with the stone, described as a Kashmir sapphire, was purchased in 2005 from the renowned jeweller Friedrich in Frankfurt (estimated price €50,000 - 70,000). An oval pendant set with diamonds surrounding a natural rubellite of approx. 20.26 ct, which captivates with its brilliant pinkish-red colour, is offered together with an elegant diamond rivière necklace (estimated price €40,000–60,000).

Two high-calibre pieces from the early 20th century are exceptional examples of the historical collector's jewellery that has traditionally been a focus at Lempertz: An early Art Deco pendant necklace from a private collection in southern Germany, finely set with diamonds, pearls and faceted onyx, as well as an emerald droplet weighing 56.35 carats. Certified by DSEF Idar-Oberstein as natural and of Russian origin, the emerald captivates with its characteristic cool colour (estimated price €30,000 – 40,000).
A large Art Deco star brooch set 'en tremblent' and richly encrusted with diamonds exudes the sophisticated flair of the Edwardian era. It is set in the centre with a brilliant blue natural Burmese sapphire. The piece can also be worn as a hair accessory and comes with a hairpin in a later case from London jewellers Garrard & Co. (estimated price £18,000 - £20,000). An oval, brilliant pinkish-red rubellite plays the leading role in a mid-century piece. The necklace suspending the stone is set with 81 brilliant-cut diamonds (approx. 14.0 ct in total) and in addition to the rubellite, the detachable pendant features 34 further brilliant-cut diamonds (estimated price €40,000 – 60,000).

Two large collector's estates have yielded a wide range of jewellery by designers and artists, including unique pieces by goldsmiths Elisabeth Treskow, Wilhelm Nagel, Falko Marx and Otto Jakob. Munich-based Hemmerle, internationally renowned for its high-quality jewellery and exquisite craftsmanship, is represented by several pieces, including a spectacular cocktail brooch in the shape of a blooming rose, sculpturally crafted in oxidised silver and fully set with 538 coolly shimmering transition-cut diamonds (estimated price €80,000 - 100,000). A pair of Hemmerle hoop ear clips with removable ring pendants, pavé set with aquamarines (estimated price €16,000–20,000), are also guaranteed to make a grand entrance.

The watches on offer include selected examples of the finest Swiss craftsmanship. Particularly noteworthy is a Patek Philippe 5205G-013 (Geneva, 2019) in 18-carat white gold with a blue two-tone dial, moon phase aperture and annual calendar (estimated price €25,000–35,000). Also from Patek Philippe is the sporty and striking ‘Aquanaut’ with ref. no. 5167/1 in steel, an iconic model from the modern line (estimated price €35,000 – 40,000). The Corum ‘Golden Bridge’ Ref. 113.900.55 impresses with its technical transparency and skeletonised hand-wound movement in rose gold (estimated price €20,000–25,000).
