A Meissen dinner plate from the Möllendorff service.

Of rounded, scalloped form, with relief decor and indianische blumen. Blue crossed swords mark, pressnummer 36. The gilding slightly worn. Diameter 26.4 cm.

One dinner plate several other plates from the same service kept in the Berlin Porcelain Collection illus. in: Wittwer in Keramos 208 / 2011, illus. 46. cf. also Rückert, Munich 1966, for the provenance, cf.: No. 469: "Nach Angaben der Familie Möllendorff von Friedrich d.Gr. anscheinend seinem General Wichard Joachim Heinrich v. Möllendorff, gest. 1818, geschenkt. In einer Spezifikation vom 7. April 1761, die die Datierung ermöglicht, wurde das Service auf 9412 Taler berechnet. Als Fonddekor wünschte der König "eine zierliche Indianische Blume ebenfalls gantz roth mit Gold, doch alles so leicht als nur möglich angebracht".
