A pair of important Ulm silver gilt reliefs. Marks of Hans Georg Bauhoff, 3rd quarter 17th C.

Rectangular reliefs depicting scenes from the life of Solomon, including the judgement (1 Kings 3:16-28) and the second visit of the Queen of Sheba (1 Kings 10:1-13). In a later ebony frame. H of each ca. 15.3; W ca. 21 cm, weight of each ca. 182 g.

Bauhoff based these two reliefs on paintings by Peter Paul Rubens, namely "The Judgement of Solomon" kept in the Statens Museum in Copenhagen, and the "Visit of the Queen of Sheba" in the Collections of the Princes of Liechtenstein in Vienna.
