The large-scale and pictorially laid out drawing is typical of the Columbian artist and paraphrases the religiously connotated motif of the Descent from the Cross. Caballero, who died early, was educated under the influence of abstract and figural contemporary art in Paris during the 1960s. From 1969 onwards, he lived in Paris. Internationally traded for the most part in New York and Paris, Willem DeKooning and Francis Bacon are said to have been early influencing models of art.
