Literature

A milk jug from a service with almost identical decor sold in Lempertz auction 1096, lot 1643. A second piece from this service in the Hoffmeister Collection (cat. vol. 1, Hamburg 1999, no. 32), then in the Collection of Said and Roswitha Marouf (in Pietsch, Passion for Meissen, Stuttgart 2010, no. 21).
A number of pieces from the second service published in: Pietsch, Johann Gregorius Hoeroldt 1696 - 1775, Dresden-Leipzig 1996, no. 61 - 79, there dated 1725. A pair of tea bowls and a pair of two-handled beakers, both with saucers, also in the Wark Collection (Pietsch, Early Meissen Porcelain, London 2011, no. 112 - 115), now dated 1724. One can assume an almost identical date due to the highly similar decor of the present work. The terms 1st and 2nd half-figure services were established by Hoffmeister (a.a.o. p. 62).
