Cf. Cazenave, Les Artistes de l'Algérie, Paris 2010, p. 434. Georges Washington (1827 - 1910) took numerous trips to Northern Africa, Marocco, and Algeria. He specialised in North African themes such as horsemen and landscapes, which he treated with extraordinary chromatic brilliance.
