Literature

This portrait can also be found on a vase and cover formerly belonging to the Bloch-Bauer Collection (in: Sturm-Bednarczyk/Jobst, Wiener Porzellan des Klassizismus. Die Ära Conrad von Sorgenthal 1784 - 1805, Vienna 2000, illus. 113). The second accompanying piece bore a portrait of Emperor Franz II signed by Johann Weixelbaum. This portrait may also be his work. Weixelbaum studied at the Academy under Heinrich Friedrich Füger and joined the manufactory in 1772, becoming head painter in 1784.
