K. Mahlfeld very kindly informed us that the landscape shown here is the countryside surrounding the “Dornenhaus”, also known as “Vogelbeerhof”, one of the oldest houses in Ahrenshoop. Paul Müller-Kaempff was the founder and best-known representative of the Darss artists' colony from 1889 onwards. He had previously received his training at the best academies of art at the time - in Düsseldorf, Karlsruhe and Berlin. Around 1911, when he had become extremely well-known, he relocated his main place of residence from the Baltic back to Berlin.
