Falko Marx (Cologne 1941 - ibid 2012).

The works of this Cologne based artist and goldsmith are represented in numerous museums. He studied at the "Kölner Werkschulen" as the master pupil of Elisabeth Treskow and perfected his craft in her studio. In his search for a contemporary form of expression, he devised a unique and unmistakeable style using an ingenious blend of old and new elements. He often utilsed "objets trouvés" in his designs, such as this iron plaque found on a beach during a trip to Morocco. He owned a holiday chalet there which supposedly inspired the design for this brooch. It depicts tiny songbirds and a wading bird in a flowering shrub before a house with a cat perched on its roof.
