An early Meissen Böttger porcelain two-handled teacup and saucer

Conical beaker with gilt lace border to the inner rim and applied floral vines to the body; the outer edge of the saucer with corresponding incrusted decor, the centre with a finely gilt Chinoiserie scene in a large reserve. Unmarked, dreher's mark / to base of saucer. Minimal chips, minor localised wear to the gilding. H 7.7, D saucer 13.1 cm
Ca. 1719 - 20, the green enamel painting possibly George Funcke, the gold decor attributed to Abraham Seuter, Augsburg, in the 1720s after a Chinoiserie design by Hoeroldt.

This beaker corresponds to the type which Claus Boltz transcribed as "incrusted chocolate beakers with two handles" (from the German in: Steinzeug und Porzellan der Böttgerperiode - Die Inventare und die Ostermesse des Jahres 1719, in Keramos 167/168/2000, p. 43).
