An 18k gold enamelled bonbonnière

A shallow rounded box with royal blue translucent enamel over guilloche to all faces. The lid with a finely painted tondo of Venus and Cupid framed by 28 cushion shaped old-cut diamonds. The rim of the lid set with Oriental demi-pearls. The other rims with finely chased ornamental bands on sablé ground with blue and opaline enamel. French prestige marks. One demi-pearl lost. Two repairs to the enamel of the outer surface. H 2.3 cm, diameter 8 cm. Weight 181.7 g.
