A Meissen porcelain vase commemorating the Battle of Waterloo

Medici krater form, fired in two parts and with original screw-mountings. The upper section with cobalt blue ground painted in gold to imitate lapis lazuli. The display side with a depiction of a hussar on horseback in a gilt etched laurel wreath surround. The reverse with a gilt etched trophy still life inscribed "PENINSULA-EL BODON-WATERLOO-" and "KOENIGLICH GROSSBRITANNISCH HANNOVERSCHES GARDE=HUSAREN=REGIMENT." The lower section with gilt etched grapevine decor beneath Gothic arches. On a gilt and fluted base. Blue sceptre mark, impressed 2. H 33.3, upper D 20.3 cm.
