An important Norwegian Renaissance silver belt

Designed as a flat chain interspersed with four reliefs decorated with scenes of the life of the Virgin Mary, namely the Annunciation and the Adoration of the Shepherds. Hook and eye clasp, the cast ring with a cherub's head. L 91 cm, weight 285 g.
Bergen, marks of Jost Albertszen, circa 1600.

A further belt made by this master is kept in the Danish National Museum in Copenhagen.
