A dated Hachmann mortar

Cast bronze, the golden brown patination presumably re-applied and with traces of green corrosion. A fleur-de-lys band surrounding the lower border beneath a vacant shield supported by two winged half-figures. A broad banderole around the rim inscribed "anno domini MCCCCCXLVI". The handles formed as two-headed dragons. H 13.9, D 14.8 cm. Weight 3.7 kg. Including an associated T-shaped pestle.
