Literature

An identical double-portrait (Crown Prince Friedrich Wilhelm and the Bavarian Princess Elisabeth) can be seen on the well-known Nymphenburg vase with the date of the couple's marriage on 23rd September 1823 in the collection of the SPSG (inv. XII/2639) in:
Hantschmann, Nymphenburger Porzellan 1797 bis 1847, München-Berlin 1996, no. 184. Cf. also Wittwer (ed.), Raffinesse & Eleganz, Munich 2007, illus. 99.
This raises the question as to whether the present work also depicts a Prussian royal couple.
