A four-case inrô. Second half 19th century

Displaying a hare sitting at a go table and placing a stone while on the other side two gibbons sit in a tree, one of them reaching for the stones in a bowl with his long arm, in gold and silver takamaki-e with a little kirikane, black and brown lacquer on highly polished kinji ground. Fundame and nashiji to the inside. Signed Koma Koryû saku. Amber-coloured ojiome. A boxwood netsuke of a rat with a bean pod, signed Motokazu. 19th century.
