Altarpiece with Scenes from the Life of the Virgin

Oil on panel. 94 x 188 cm (when fully opened, with frame).

The central panel of this altarpiece shows a densely populated scene of Christ's crucifixion. He is depicted between the two thieves, and the Virgin Mary stands under the cross. The Nativity and the Resurrection with the women at the grave are depicted on the left panel, whilst the right shows the miracle of Pentecost and the Crowning of the Virgin. The outer panels depict Saints Andrew and Cecilia. The inscription on the crib in the Nativity scene could be interpreted as the artist's monogram. The panels are housed in a newer frame.
