Shipping

If you have any questions with regard to shipping your purchases, please feel free to contact:

The type of postage used depends on the objects purchased and on your preferences. You will find a suggestion as to the best method of shipping in your auction invoice.

Collecting your items in person

You can come and collect your purchases in person during our normal opening hours. Please let us know you are coming beforehand so that we can prepare your purchases for you. For a small fee we can also transport your purchases to one of our other branches. You will find information on this process in your auction invoice.

Please be aware that if you wish to collect purchases destined for third countries in person, you will need to pay a German VAT deposit of 19% of the hammer price. This deposit will be returned immediately upon notice of export. The customs documents required for personal export will be provided for you by our shipping department.

Transport via courier/post

Costs for transport by post (in Germany) or by FEDEX are listed in the auction invoice. Please note that the transfport by FEDEX and Post are not insured by Lempertz. Please pay these together with the rest of the invoice. Please be aware that we are only able to send fragile items such as porcelain and glass by post up to a hammer price of €5,000.

Transport via a shipping firm

We can organise transport for you using a professional art logistics firm. The transport costs will be calculated for you directly by this company.

Transport insurance

Post and FedEx packages will be insured by Lempertz. The costs of transport insurance will be listed along with the shipping costs in your invoice. Items transported by a shipping company will be insured by the company carrying out the transport. Please let us know if you would like the shipping company to organise a special transport insurance.

Customs

Customs clearance for third countries will be carried out by the logistics firm or courier. If you wish to collect your items in person, you will need to carry out the customs clearance yourself upon leaving the EU.
