Two large, rare Meissen porcelain models of parrots. Faintly visible blue crossed swords mark to the unglazed underside, one bird with multiple pressnummer 45. Restorations to the leaves, claws and a chip to the head of one figure. H 18.7 and 19.6 cm.
Modelled by Johann Joachim Kaendler, May and June 1740, presumably formed shortly after.

These small parrot models are first mentioned in Kaendler's workshop records in July 1735. These popular figures were requested and produced in various sizes and with varying colours of plumage. This model corresponds either to one large, seated model mentioned in May 1740, or two modelled as a facing pair seated on large branches one month later.
