An 18k gold brooch with an Ancient Egyptian scarab amulet

Hinged two-piece brooch with a gold mounted lapis lazuli plaque (ca. 22 x 30 mm) and a grey-green glazed faience scarab amulet depicting the standing god Horus flanked by two Uraei (ca. 26.2 x 20.2 x 10.49 mm). Hallmarks: Fineness 750. Total H 6 cm. Weight 28.14 g.

The falcon of Horus and the two Uraeus snakes are one way of writing the word Pharaoh. This scarab was probably used as an official's seal.
