A rare Sèvres porcelain plate from the service for the Départements

Model "assiette plate". Painted with a labelled view of the "FONTAINE DES INNOCENTS" in 1st Arrondissement in Paris/Département de la Seine in a blue frame with golden branches. The border decorated with six medallions amid floral swags depicting motifs relating to various crafts alternating with three labelled cameo portraits of Jean Le Rond d´Alembert, Charles Rollin, and J.B. Bourguingnon D´Anville. The reverse inscribed with a list of the "Personnages célèbres" and an explanation of the motifs. Signed and dated lower right "A. Poupart 1828". Blue stamped mark with conjoined double L, green painter's mark 13.X.27.G. gilt Vd. 16 mai., incised 9-28. D 23.7 cm.
