Ellsworth Kelly Opening

From 9 September to 7 October Kunsthaus Lempertz will hold an exhibition of a selection of works by the US American artist Ellsworth Kelly.

The exhibition vernissage on 8 September was very well attended and a great success. Architect Stephan Braunfels, who selected the works, reported about his close friendship and collaboration with the artist. Alongside many other world famous constructions, Braunfels is also responsible for the majority of the buildings of the German parliament. Kelly took on the artistic design of Braunfels’ Paul-Löbe house. As laudator for the artist who passed away at the end of 2015, Mrs. Kimberly Emerson, the wife of the US Ambassador, spoke about the life and work of the artist in the USA and Germany.

Ellsworth Kelly was one of the principal representatives of the Hard-edge artistic style, notable for its non-figurative, geometric painting with bright colors and hard edges.
