Onorio Marinari
CLEOPATRA

Estimated price:
€ 120.000

Cleopatra! The last Egyptian Queen constantly fascinated Italian baroque artists – due to her legendary beauty and wisdom, but also due to her tragic death. Onorio Marinari depicts her in a sensual semi-nude. With masterly, flowing brushstrokes, the Florentine artist reproduces the velvety skin, the sumptuous fabrics and the magnificent jewellery in her blond hair.

Sigmar Polke
UNTITLED

Estimated price:
€ 60.000 – € 80.000

Sigmar Polke’s oeuvre is characterised by experimental painting techniques and a constant exploration of the limits of artistic forms of expression. Often critical of society, but always with a touch of irony, the artist addresses themes with subversive humour and subtle informality. One of his characteristic techniques is the use of stencils and spray paint, which Polke adopted from American Pop Art and which he used in this piece of work from 1983.

Ernst Wilhelm Nay
DOMINANT GRÜN

Estimated price:
€ 230.000 – € 260.000

Like hardly any other painting from the years around 1955, which were so important for the artist, he returned to the themes of music and rhythm in the large-format canvas DOMINANT GRÜN. Nay masterfully sublimed the materialiry of colour, leaving the delicate colour figurations of the chains and discs to sound in the space.

Hein Gorny
DESIGN FOR HEIN GORNY’S BERLIN BOOK. 1946 MAQUETTE FOR A PHOTO BOOK.

Estimated price:
€ 8.000 – € 10.000

A photo-historical sensation is the discovery of this book design, which was previously thought to be lost. Gorny conceived his volume about the war-torn city in the years 1945 to 1946, but it was never to be published. The montage of aerial photos of bombed-out Berlin with views from before and after the war impressively illustrates the extent of the catastrophe.
