Thanks to his successful work as the official photographer for the presidential campaign of John F. Kennedy, Jacques Lowe advanced to the position of JFK's personal photographer, although he refused the position of White House photographer. His many photographs of the President and his wife and of the entire Kennedy clan - including some very private photos - were published by Lowe in several books. The photographer died several months before 9/11 and was therefore spared the destruction of most of his negative archives in the attack on the World Trade Center in 2001.
