The right hand of the Virgin lost, some losses to the plinth, small additions to the crown. Height 102 cm.

A Northern French oak figure of the Virgin with Child, circa 1380. Carved three quarters in the round, the reverse flattened, very minor remains of an older polychromy. A standing full-figure depiction of the Virgin in a girded robe, a long cloak and a crown above a veil. The Virgin holds the blessing infant Christ in her left arm, and presumably originally held a sceptre in her right.

Provenance

534th Lempertz Auction, Cologne, 24.11.1973, lot 1922. - Since then in a Rhenish private collection.
