A fine mixed metal metal and ivory ryûsa manjû of Shôki, by Mitsunori. First half 19th century

The inset kanamono of shakudô, copper, gold and silver shaped as Shôki riding with a drawn sword on a shishi. The manjû carved in openwork with a peony shrub growing on a rocky platform and cloud swirls, on the side with an oni hiding beneath a rock, and on the reverse with oni’s club (kanabô) and rising clouds. The oni’s pupils of black horn. Signed Mitsunori on an inlaid silver tablet.
